Fujitsu Broad Solution & Consulting Inc.
Dalian Branch Established as New Basis of Embedded System Development in China
~Accessing resources in China and strengthening the foundations for offshore development~
Fujitsu Broad Solution & Consulting Inc. (President: Takao Kaneko; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; “Fujitsu BSC”) is pleased to announce that on January 1, 2008, it has established the Dalian Branch of its subsidiary, Beijing Brain Cell Software Corporation Limited (BCL) (see corporate profile below). The Dalian Branch will serve as the new base for embedded system development in China.
Established in Beijing in 1992 as a joint venture between the Chinese Academy of Sciences Software International Inc. (from Beijing) and Togen Business Software Corporation Limited (from Hong Kong), BCL has been developing software centering on embedded systems. The Dalian Branch is its third development base in China, following the Beijing headquarters and the Shanghai Branch, which was established in March 2006. The Dalian Branch will commence operations with 26 employees focusing on the development of mobile phones for Japanese manufacturers. It will increase staffing levels and expand its operations as needed.
Major Objectives in Establishing the Dalian Branch
- The embedded system businesses face a chronic shortage of engineers, which can be addressed with a base in China.
- The cost of labor is lower than it is in Beijing, so it is possible to strengthen the foundations for offshore development.
- The Dalian district has been strongly committed to promoting the IT industry, and is attracting IT companies from around the world. A number of major Japanese IT companies have established branches here, and this will enable efficient operations.
Fujitsu BSC has been focusing on embedded system development as one of its key businesses. It has been taking steps to bolster its workforce in terms of both number and skills, aiming to secure 900 engineers (250 of whom are Chinese). The establishment of BCL’s Dalian branch is part of this initiative, and Fujitsu BSC will continue to expand its foundations so that it can support its customers.
